Infrared Remote Switch

Infrared remote controller project allows you to control a relay with an ordinary Phillips remote control button which you have already assigned.

Features

* User define remote controller button assignment
* Selectable two output modes
* Infrared signal status LED indicator

Operation

In a remote controller there are many buttons available such as numeric buttons, volume buttons, channel selecting buttons etc…. the nice thing is you can assign a button for this project that is rarely used & with that button you will be able to control your relay output accordingly.

The infrared remote controller project uses Phillip’s RC5X protocol to transfer the infrared signals from the remote controller to the infrared receiver module. Here I used VISHAY SEMICONDUCTORS TSOP 1738 infrared receiver module. This infrared receiver module is working in 38 KHz & surrounding frequency range.

It can use with any RC5X supported Phillips remote controllers. Ex: Phillips TV, DVD, VCR, Home theatre etc…..

Two output modes

GP0 output:-

When it received a valid Infrared code this output will toggle.

Gp1 output:-

When it received a valid Infrared code this output stays on until you released the remote controller’s button.

These two output modes can be selected by the SW2 switch.

User define button assignment

Press & hold the SW1 button & it will light up the indicator LED. Within this period you press one of your remote controller’s buttons. You can see the indicator LED will blink couple of times notifying you that successfully saved your button. When you see the LED is blinking release the SW1 button. Programming is completed now you will be able to control your relay output from the programmed button.
