Knight rider running lights circuit will give you the real fading effect of running lights pattern as you see in the early day’s knight rider TV series in Mikes KITT car.
Starting from a fully bright LED followed by a fade tail of different brightness LED’s shifting left & right with a calculated speed is the real effect of knight rider running lights.
The Knight Rider running lights circuits trail consists of six LED brightness levels & it has maximum length of 12 LED channels to move both sides.
Duty cycles in the fade trail (brightness levels in the LED strip) as below.
1% = Very dim
5% = Dim
10% = Dim average
25% = Less bright
50% = Medium bright
100% = Full bright
The Knight Rider running lights circuit designed with a minimum of electronics parts & can be add more LEDs to make it wider length by using an external driving transistor for each channel if needed.I have used all in one compact ULN 2003 Darlington arrays to connect Led’s. This is pretty enough to connect more LED’s.
The whole circuit powers from a 12V DC power supply So it can be directly power from a vehicle battery.
For better results use high quality Oval mat LED’s & avoid using transparent LED’s.
